David D. Mendes
Mr. Mendes is an experienced trial attorney and litigator practicing in the areas of personal injury, civil rights and tort claims, drunk driving defense, probate and estates, and family law. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Mendes served as a criminal prosecutor and handled hundreds of drunk driving, criminal traffic and domestic violence cases. He managed the personal injury practice of a leading civil litigation law firm and represented victims against insurance companies and state and local governments. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Mendes was a successful business development and consulting professional and has extensive experience advising business owners and senior managers.
Mr. Mendes received his juris doctorate at the University of New Mexico School of Law. In law school, Mr. Mendes was honored with the Lynda Latta Family Law Advocacy Award for his work representing indigent clients through the UNM Law Clinic. As a law student, Mr. Mendes was a State Bar of New Mexico Arturo J. Jaramillo Summer Fellow and clerked for the State of New Mexico Risk Management Division Legal Bureau and Roybal-Mack & Cordova, P.C., a respected civil litigation firm serving New Mexico.
Mr. Mendes also served as the President of the Mexican American Law Student Association (MALSA). For his term, MALSA was awarded the 2013 American Bar Association National Achievement Award for Diversity for substantially advancing access to legal education for underrepresented minorities throughout both urban and rural communities in New Mexico.
Mr. Mendes is a member of the first graduating class of Soka University of America, where he received his B.A. in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in International Studies.
